Renewable energies, a blooming field
For several years, renewable energy (wind farms, biomass, hydraulic, photovoltaic,
thermal solar, geothermal, biogas and fuel cells) have been the focus of debates
on environment, and more specifically sustainable development.
This energy source represents undisputable assets in terms of environmental protection
due to the absence of greenhouse gas emissions during its exploitation.
The development of renewable energies is conducted within the Kyoto Protocol
scope. Indeed, France committed itself to produce 21% of its power supply from
renewable energies by 2010, compared to 15% in 2006 (mostly from hydraulic).
CAPENERGIE, a fund dedicated to renewable energies
In this context, Crédit Agricole Private Equity has created CAPENERGIE, the first private equity fund (recording a French FCPR legal structure with
an allocation of EUR 109 M) dedicated to renewable energy.
CAPENERGIE's investment strategy targets existing companies (developers, specialized
promoters, energy producers, equipment manufacturers, operators...) as well as project
structures within the wind power, biomass... fields.
Our initial unit investment stands between 1 and 5 millions euros, and usually
corresponds to a minority stake in the company.
Our key markets are France and close Europe.
Our team benefits from a 25-year experience in private equity, as well as in investment
banking.
A proactive partner for managers
Our team main concern is the quality of our partnership with managers.
Given our sectorial positioning, we aim at contributing to the optimization of
our partners' strategy and to the implementation of their business plan.
Our goal is to be "the most industry-oriented investors".
